Praia de Faro, Our City’s Most Popular Beach!

Praia de Faro is the most popular beach in Faro, and it’s easy to see why. 

Located on a sandbar separating the Atlantic Ocean from the Ria Formosa lagoon, Praia de Faro is a long sweep of sand that stretches for around 5km (3.1 miles). 

The blue water is warm and inviting, perfect for swimming and playing. And when you want to take it easy, you can simply lay back and relax on the golden sand.

The beach is well-equipped with sun loungers and parasols for rent. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby where you can grab a a refreshing drink or bite to eat.

As Faro’s most popular beach, it’s worth noting that Praia de Faro is especially busy in the peak summer season.

Take a Boat to Ilha Deserta 

If you’re looking for a more secluded beach experience, Ilha Deserta is the destination for you. 

This uninhabited island is accessible only by boat, making it a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. 

The white sand beach is clean and pristine, and the turquoise water is crystal clear.
